The ice storm by imaginee The ice storm by imaginee
The worst ice storm in 30 years, 250,000 were without power, still no electric to more then 40,000....hubby, the dogs and I are staying with my best friend Shirley. I will say it was the most beautiful ice storm I have ever seen, each tree looked as if they had crystal leaves, everything sparkled, I snapped many pics but the images I saw with my eyes just don't compare. I'll upload a few pics to my scrapbook.

Your drawing is sometimes so realistic that I need to take a close up at this picture to see if it's photo or now. If you took it black and white I would probably be staring at it for 30 minutes deciding. :D

I'm from Worcester, all my neighbors lost power for days, except for me :D I haven't had school since Thursday either. When I woke up, I was amazed by how the trees looked. I wish I'd gotten my camera before it all melted TT_TT

It's so beautiful and it reminds me of the ice storm that hit my town last year in October. The icy trees and no power for days xD

It is beautiful, but a real headache, too. We lost power for two days, then on a day, then out for three days a couple of years ago when we got hit in the midwest. Hope you get back home soon!

Pretty, but dangerous. I remember my experience with ice storms when I was young....

About 6 years ago, where I live, there was a huge storm that kept us without power for several days, and keeping us out of school. A branch landed on our family's car, which thereafter had to be repaired. The scary part was that we were driving when it fell from way up. Glass everywhere, door dented.... I kept thinking a tree would fall onto our house and crush us..... I was younger back then.

That must of been real scary for you! I will say I was scared the night of the storm, all night I could hear the crashing trees and branches all around the house and was afraid a tree would fall on the house. I pray there will not be anymore ice storms like this last one.

yes, it was scary. My younger siblings were screaming, and the car tipped a little XP

Yes, I hope we don't have another like that, either. Knock on wood.

Snow is fine, ice is not, it's beautiful but it causes to much destruction...so many trees came down or were damaged.

wow! This reminds me of the ice storm of 1998 we had here! There was so much ice accumulation that trees were completely bent and broken! Here's a picture of high tension electric pylons on the South side of Montréal that collapsed under the weight of ice!. And this one is a picture that was taken for the newspapers!
I was 9 years old when it happened and I still remember it!

Good luck with everything!

well, since I was very young, I wasn't really aware of all the bad impact of this ice storm! For me it was very fun: no school, no electricity which means we had permission to use the candles, and we didn't have to walk to the park to skate! It was very fun! :)

but yeah... when I think of it now it must have been a real nightmare for everyone else!!!

Yep.. we had one here last winter (southern Illinois) that kept us without power for right at a week. Worst part of it was, about an hour after our power went out, the folks across the road from us got theirs back on. Had to sit in a cold, dark house (couldn't get out, because the tree right in front of the house was bent over double, blocking the driveway), for six days and nights, looking out at their lights...

It really is beautiful to look at, but man is it ever destructive. Our trees held up pretty good, actually (lost the top out of one white pine), but there is still lingering evidence of that storm. Lot of trees came down, lots of property damage.

Hope it's a long, LONNNNNNNNNNNNNNG time before the next one.
