Mom and Son commission by imaginee Mom and Son commission by imaginee
20 x 25 inch graphite pencil portrait on smooth Bristol. I have not worked this large before, on paper this one was very realistic looking. Enjoyed working on it.

This is the level I'm hoping to achieve soon. This is so amazing, I don't think there's any way you can improve this - it's perfect. Very nice work!

for me she looks perfect but the expression should of been softer with the kid,
i see a lot of times great artists make this mistake, small children shouldn't look this mature. the expression is of a young teen not of childish wonder.
and technically, i know the left side of his face should have that shadow but something's off there- the face is totally frontal but the skull isn't..

but it's still extremely awesome, wonderful work.

Great eye! I did have some problems working on this portrait, and I felt the boys face never was quite right.  I softened both mom and child, they had some darker shadows because the photo was taken on a beach.  I normally have no problem drawing children and making them look their age.  My only excuse is... The size of the drawing was very difficult to work with, I had it propped it on an easel, also laid it on the dinning room table and since I don't print the reference photo I had to be able to see the computer screen as I drew. I wound up drawing a lot of the portrait standing up with it upside down or side ways.  I did however enjoy much of the details being that they were so nice and big, but I am not set up to work this large and never will again! LOL.

WHen I saw this, I was all like, "Aww, what a cute photo!" Then I got a closer look, and I was all like, "NO. WAY." All I can think of is: HOW CAN YOU DRAW SO AMAZING! Witchcraft.... jkjkjk

This was a hard one to work on, not because of the subject but because of the size and trying to comfortably draw. I stood over the drawing for the most part. :)
