Leloo Wip Images by imaginee Leloo Wip Images by imaginee
A couple of work in progress (wip) images of the recent "Leloo" drawing. Started out with a 12 x 20 inch grid, then took my time working on small areas. Finished drawing was just posted.

Graphite Pencil on Vellum Bristol.

Do you trace your drawings?

No, I grid the reference photo and grid my paper and then slowly outline everything seen. I don't even print out the reference anymore, I just draw from the image on the computer screen. I teach my students that the outline is a map of the entire drawing, so if you start off with a very detailed one you will not lose your way when working on tonal and details. :)

Oh I see! I have to agree on that one
It's just that I usually draw more details as I get near a section
