Leloo by imaginee Leloo by imaginee
A recent drawing of Leloo from the movie "The 5th Element". Took over a month to finish this one due to the size. I didn't try to make her highly realistic, had fun playing around with the shadows cast on her face and that shocked expression. Somewhere in my DA gallery is a sketch I did of her 8 years ago. :)

12 x 20 inches
Graphite Pencil
Vellum Bristol

Amazing as always! You still managed to make her realistic! But still a bit less realistic than your other drawings. Still love it though! Great shading and the expression is spot on. I don't know the movie though!

You've hit on something with this one. The surface is exactly what it should be. Showing pores in the skin and extra lines around the eyes rarely adds anything of value. To a trained artist, this looks like a skillful rendering with the right amount of emotion imbued in the process to communicate effectively. A fan just feels the impact; in reflection, they might use the phrase as "real as a photo" but it's the sympathetic response to your intent that affects them first an foremost. Don't take it lightly because I'm a professional and not in the habit of passing out undeserved compliments. This direction will yield you much. That being said, it's time to get back to work...:sun:

Remarkable work and you drew this partially or all with graphite? Do you find that the darker areas reflect too much on the original image when there's directional lighting? or is there a technique that you know of that cancels out the shine?

You're an amazing portrait artist btw. I'm developing my techniques by watching the work other artist like you. Thank you for the inspiration :)
