Artist's Comments

Another small video showing how I draw hair....sorry but the film job isn't very good and since I'm not use to talking out loud to nobody I sound prettty strange. As you will see in this video I draw the hair with the portrait and reference photo turned upside down this way i can better see the shapes i need to draw. Maybe my next vid will be better, u know what they say practice makes best. :D

Your technique is so much more robust and deliberate than mine. I am almost afraid to lay down heavy images right off the bat like that. It takes me 4 or 5 layers to bring things up to a good darkness where you are nailing it in one or two passes. I think I may try to be a bit more confident so my drawings don't take 20 hrs to do LOL.

I suppose a person needs to see others work in order to judge what is really required to create an image. You did in 2 minutes what I would have messed with for 10, and with a harder lead to boot! :)

Hi and thanks for the comments. I love sharing with other artist:) Oh and i put down about 3 layers of 3b on the hair, blending in-between each. Have to say over the last few years I've gone darker and darker right off the bat. My portraits take forever toooo, 20 hours and much more. I only do a small part at a time and tend to go over the same areas a lot....I think if i would just leave it alone and move on i'd finish a lot faster :D...I'm still learning and trying to push myself to new levels....tis fun for the most part.

Thanks again and take care~Linda

Lots of practice and taking it slow are key for a work of art... never ever rush a drawing because it will look it!
